The benefits are clear. Patients overwhelmingly prefer to recover and manage chronic conditions at home. Health systems reduce unnecessary admissions and readmissions. Providers gain new opportunities to deliver care more efficiently.

But there is one foundational requirement that often receives far less attention than telehealth platforms, digital tools, or care coordination models:

  • How much operational work falls back on providers?

These questions move procurement discussions beyond specifications and toward long-term operational performance.
