ZimVie, a global life sciences company specializing in dental and spine solutions, is the result of a successful spin-off from Zimmer Biomet in 2022. The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida-based company is well known for several innovations including a comprehensive portfolio for hard and soft tissue grafting, utilizing its proprietary Tutoplast. It’s also designed as a long-term molar implant system.
The company’s latest compelling creation is its RealGUIDE digital dentistry platform that integrates implant planning, guided surgery, and CAD/CAM restorative workflows. The platform consists of multiple modules that can be combined to suit specific clinical needs.
The most recent addition to RealGUIDE is a CAD module that enables detailed customization of crowns, bridges, overdentures, temporary restorations, and other dental applications.
AI is a critical part of RealGUIDE’s function. The platform uses AI to automatically trace mandibular nerves in CBCT scans, which reduces the need for manual tracing. What’s more, AI-powered bone segmentation allows for rapid identification and separation of bone structures from surrounding tissues. Those are just two use cases, with a half-a-dozen others.
Part of what sets RealGUIDE apart from its competition is its access to OEM components during planning stages which ideally ensures both compatibility and error reduction.

The goal of RealGUIDE is to reduce time for treatment planning and surgical guide creation through automation while, at the same time, facilitating predictable impala placement and prosthetic modeling, creating a safer and easily repeatable process. According to ZimVie, labs can save up to 60 to 70 percent per case by transitioning to in-house workflows utilizing RealGUIDE’s AI tools.
